Biography
Dr. Higgins is a physicist by profession and a photographer by heart. He has been interested in photography since the age of 13 when he received a 35mm film camera for Christmas. Upon receiving it he began saving all of my weekly allowance to buy film. With over 40 years of experience behind a camera and studying the various techniques of other professional photographers has helped him in developing his own techniques to get that perfect photograph.
Dr. Higgins took courses in photography while in college and studied Professional Photography and graduated from the New York Institute of Photography and The Institute of Photography located in Australia majoring in Professional Photography.
He enjoys taking wildlife, nature, macro, pet portraits, landscape and seascape photographs. His photos have been featured in numerous magazines and ads in the United States and abroad. He has won several rewards on photographs he's taken.
He has always been drawn to the natural world; backpacking to remote places as far away from people as possible to photograph the untouched landscape and its inhabitants, the nature and wildlife that occupies these areas.
Waiting for the “Perfect Light” brings life to his images. A misty morning, a golden sunset, or a looming storm inspires variety in his work, while revealing nature’s emotions. His photography is, in essence, of "a vanishing nature in the world around us."
This private and untouched moment has given him the peace and solitude he yearned in himself and in his work. These images document his favorite times and viewers can walk away with a greater appreciation of and a desire to help conserve nature.
